During an intense two-week period in 2016 , I made this series of 17 graphite drawings on paper.
I was inspired by the work of Ernst Haeckel, the 17th century German zoologist who produced “Art Forms in Nature” which compiled his illustrations of natural organisms which he described and studied. I was also inspired by the writings of Italo Calvino, whose writings I was reading at the time.
Some of the drawings were sold at an arts and crafts market in Kuala Lumpur.
