Recently went to Taiwan to attend the April 26th opening of Incurable Alliance, a group show organised by HIV Story and curated by Kairon Liu and Pohyao Huang, at the C-Lab in Taipei. The show featured works made by 9 HIV+ artists from the Asia-Pacific region, plus an installation by HIV Story.

The artists: Adam Umar aka Univorso (Malaysia); Andrew Chan (Australia); FrankiC (Hong Kong); Gian Cruz (The Philippines), Jaewon Kim (S Korea); Jangwon Choi (S Korea); Kairon Liu (Taiwan), Tseng Chih Wei (Taiwan), and myself.
For the show, I debuted two new works, "The Questions" and "The Answer."

I really enjoyed myself during the trip... and Taipei has such a chill vibe. Meeting the other artists was an amazing experience. Kudos to the organisers for conceiving and birthing this show, which is so rare in this part of the world.
HIV as an art subject may not be the sexiest, but like any other thing on this Earth that affects the lives of so many people, plagued not only by the virus but the overwhelming stigma and shame surrounding it, it really deserves a platform. Not for pity's sake. Fuck pity. But for understanding, expression and a glimpse into what it's like. The show goes on until June 1, 2025.
